I just lost my 37 year old son who was mentally ill and used drugs to cope but was not an addict.he had a trailor and people who needed a place to stay and food was offered by my son and those people winded up using him and getting him to take something on occasion to join in with them.I warned him over and over for a few years to get rid of those people but he wasn't strong enough.nov 29th I got a knock on my door at 4 am saying my son was gone.I have been a wreck ever since physically and mentally. We were very close and I saw him everyday.Even earlier that day.My heart is broken and right before xmas. One person was with him that night and that person was a drug addict. He had kicked him out finally a week before and he came back that night with no where to sleep and within an hour my son was dead.I believe he may have given him something to snort.Maybe some kind of opiote pill or something going around. There is a detective on the case but it will be hard to prove he forced it on him.I need to wait now for weeks for the toxicology results.Iwill feel much better if he died of a heart attack or something.I am devastated and sad.I feel the need to talk to other people who are going thru the same thing.

I'm so happy to know someone cared about my loss.I've been a mess since nov.29th and I feel I need to talk to others who have a similar loss.If you don't mind can you tell me about your son and what happened to him.I'm still waiting for the toxicology report which takes up to 12 weeks so I think he might have snorted or smoked something. He was mentally ill for 20 years but was a great soul and helped everyone and was my best friend.I miss him more than words can say.I know he is with the lord but I cant help but think of him constantly. It will be nice to hear your story.

    Lisa,
Your story is much like mine. My son had a traumatic brain injury in 2009 and as a result he too suffered with mental illness and would take opiates and alcohol to ease his emotional pain.
A close family friend died on 11/30/16 at 48yrs old and 24 hours later (12/1) my son David was found dead at age 30. A "friend" went to David's house to console him with opiates that they crushed and sniffed. The tox report showed that my son and our family friend died from fentanyl OD. Im pretty sure the same guy gave them both the fentanyl.
The DA said they could never prove it. The DA was no help at all.
My birthday is Dec. 7th and i spent it preparing for David's wake. We went to 2 funerals that week. I miss them both terribly. I will never be the same.
I am so sorry for your loss.
