Me, too! New to the group. I lost both my parents this past January. Dad I was expecting. Mom , had bone cancer and was still surprised when she passed. They were married 64 years. I still can’t believe they are both gone. Something happens, I want to reach for the phone and call my mom. That’s what we did. She lived in Texas. I live in Tennessee. How did you lose your parents? My doctor told me today to join a grievance group, so I found this group on line. Hope to hear from you in the future! From Debra Ann
Welcome Pamela & Debra Ann- we're glad to have you here. The loss of a parent brings us into a time of great life transition and change. When we lose our remaining parent we may feel even more vulnerable, and exposed, and often times this second loss can bring up a lot of feelings from the first. It's a complicated thing that few people understand but I'm hoping you can find some support and comfort here. We have an article from our blog about the loss of a parent that includes information about the loss of both parents. I'm including it here and hope you find it helpful: https://www.griefincommon.com/blog/loss-of-a-parent/. If you have any specific topics you'd like to address, just add them here for discussion. There's good support available and we're here to help. Please take care~
Thank you so much. I just lost my dad last week and my mom last year. Now that both are gone I am having a hard time with it. I thought I toke it well at first but am starting to struggle with lack of appetite, sleeplessness, depression and so I guess I am not handling it as well as I thought.
