I'm sorry your doctor appointment was stressful, I hope you're okay. A happy birthday to your love, Linda. Like you said, you like to remember her birthday not so much the day she left.

Thank you, Karen. I'm feeling less stressed
tonight, after a long, hot shower. I put
everything out of my mind, as I massaged
my head with shampoo, and felt the
therapeutic water. Early supper, early to
bed. I think the shower definitely
    helped. L

    Bernadine,

Getting here late and as usual, I'm not reading posts in the order in which they were written, so probably missing something, but I hope that your evening is much better than your day was. The only thing I know for sure is that everything is always subject to change!!!, TUTTAM!!! So............. to better days ahead!!!

Hope you get lots of quality zzz's tonight...

As always, sending you and Maggie Joy, lots of hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

P.S. "Effing" feelings is so much more refined, classy, than just blurting out F*CK!!!, like I do, lol... Bob used to say you can dress me up, but can't take me anywhere, lol...

    B-Ster,

Didn't read this until after I responded to something you posted after this one. So sorry you've had such a sucky couple of weeks... Sometimes, I HATE!!! this over the top bittersweet existence... But, and this is another one of those really BIG!!! BUTS!!!, happy mixed with sad is about as good as it's going to get, so all we can do is what we've been doing, keep on going and going and going, savoring the good moments...

To better days ahead for all of us!!!

As always, sending you and Magster lots of hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEBSTER

    Karen,

I don't think I've told you how happy I am that you adopted another furry family member. I bet Winkie is over the top adorable!!! I can almost picture The Wink's eyes... Enjoy her to the absolute max!!! Wait, I don't know why I said this, I'm positive you already are, lol... Furry family members are the the absolute best!!!

Thanks for the smiles tonight. I really needed them. It was a L O N G!!! emotionally filled day. Way too frazzled to "talk" about it, but as I just said to B-Ster, the only thing I know for certain is that everything is always subject to change. So, to repeat, to better days for all of us!!!

Give Winky lots of hugs and kisses from her Auntie DEBSTER.

As always, sending lots more hugs and love to you and Winky, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEBSTER

I wish so much I could jump into one of those pictures and give her the BIGGEST!!! hug ever... (I don't need to know whatever it is that she's been into, sometimes ignorance really is bliss, lol...)

Bernadine, I chuckled at "B-Ster". George
started calling Deb , Debster, and I ran
with it. Now, it's getting out of control,
and doesn't always work: Karen is "Ms.
Hum" and Rose is The Rose. I think "Ster"
harkens back to my silly 20s, and makes
    me smile. Lou ( ster!)

Greetings The Grief Warriors. I have received much encouragement reading everyone’s messages recently. It’s nice to know I’m not the only warrior who goes into a funk. Robin and Rose, I hear you about getting the home and property ready for winter. I’m glad I have a home in the county though. Cheryl’s yellow mums are starting to fade brown. The growing season is over and another cycle begins. I was visiting a hospice patient and at my last visit they were testing for covid as covid was in the facility. I told them I was not going back for a while. My patient died a week later. My brother Mark has been camping in the area all summer but it is time for him to go home. Laura my niece , Mark, and I had lunch Saturday then we went for a walk in a nature preserve. Cheryl and I had frequented the trail many times in the past. I felt safe enough to mourn if I needed. The bench we sat many times brought back many great memories. It was like time traveling in a beautiful dream of rapid season changes. Laura had just broken up with her boyfriend and her Dad was leaving now. When we all said goodbye Laura’s dog even looked sad. Mark and I exchanged a couple bear hugs neither worrying about holding back the tears. It is okay to feel these feelings and not scold myself about controlling my emotions. Reading the book Permission to Mourn really helps. I’ve been listening to self compassion audio by Kristin Neff regarding loving kindness lately. I couldn’t thank Bernadine enough for referring me to the book Awake at the Bedside. At this time in my life this is the best therapeutic information I could have. Impermanence is a new word for me. Examine what happens to a set of dishware, home, vehicle, tree, animal, every thing over a period of time. I’m looking at Cheryl’s mums and thinking about the human body. While typing this I’ve contemplated deleting it. But I won’t because I’m a warrior like you. We share our pain and our joy and keep on trucking. Gary

Gary, you are like a noble lion, who surveys the Serengeti. But, instead of
pouncing on his prey, you wait and then
give comfort to other Grief Warriors. I
welcomed Jackie ( "Freebird 5825"), from
neat Lake Ontario , in upstate NY. Her
husband, Smitty, died back in 2004, no
children. She was having a hard time, as
many of TGW this time of year, mourning
their soulmates on the sad anniversaries of
their deaths. I believe I was the only GW
to welcome her. She appreciated my
welcome, and we "talked" for a while, but
she has disappeared off GIC, temporarily,
or perhaps forever. I've learned ( like
Tom Zuba) not to take it personally.
Please don't delete your posts, Gary. You
are valuable to us, and we learn a lot from
    you. Lou

I’m reading everything out of order somehow,
You’ve experienced a recent death, Gary. Just wanted to acknowledge that. I love hearing about your family.
And nature, this season, she seems to be speaking to us. The wheel is turning.

Bernadine, you're on a roll this morning!
    It's 8am my time, so I think you've been
up half the night. I just replied to one of
your posts, the wildlife one. I also
responded to Rose, in Italy, who's in a 6
plus, hour time difference from us. Have
to run. As you can see from my post to
La Rose, Saturday is my busiest day of the
week. Have a good one. Louster ( rhymes
    with rooster!).

I was awake until half past midnight. Some nights sleep doesn't come easily.
I'm glad you have a busy Saturday, have all of the tourists returned home now?

    No,Bernadine.The Neck(our promenade
of shops &.restaurants shuts down on
    Halloween, which is crowded with
    locals & tourists.

Then,it's a cold ghost town until
    ===Christmas, when tourists return and
stay at the inns. I take a train to a larger city for more things to do, and for my
sanity & to combat loneliness. Louster
