I feel safe repeating my stories about
Linda here, and like to hear other stories
from TGW . It's a cliche, but it really IS
like the "peeling of an onion" with new
add ins. Jack was a brave man to be
naked outside. In my 20s, my friendd
hiked in a Colorado park. It was a hot
day, and one of my friends went skinny
dipping. I was paranoid that tourists,
with cameras, would get that on film.
    No thanks. Lou

Deb, all of us remember the "summer of
love" in San Francisco, and Woodstock.
After seeing the filth and debauchery of
    the hippies, I'm glad I wasn't there. I did ,
and still do, enjoy some of the music of
the late 60s, like The Beatles, CCR, The
Band, etc. Linda & I saw The Big Chill
many times, loved the ensemble actors,
and the music. We bought the soundtrack
CDs of that movie, The Godfather, Exodus,
and others. Getting tired, on cue, my 9:3
bedtime. Talk in the am! Lou

It's better than what Jack's Mom and Dad used to do--stay in and watch The Price is Right TV show.

I’m glad to hear you guys talking about ideas how to minimize the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s. When you’re alone it’s tough stimulating the neurons. I get on aarp.org and play staying sharp games for one hour in the morning. There are about 25 different games from math, wordsmith, split words, memory and games. Lou glad to hear you have a plan for staying active in the winter and you’re not afraid to get out except for the ice. Deb I forgot to Thank you for the LMSO this morning about feeling sorry for the defendant. Has anyone ever read the children’s book beyond the ridge By Paul Goebel? It’s a beautiful story about a Native American grandmother’s journey into the afterlife. The illustrations in this book are beyond beautiful. I read the story on summer solstice this year the day I returned Cheryl to the earth. I felt if I’ve ever done anything right in my life I did it right that day for Cheryl. I’ve only been back to the site once and I took roses from Cheryl’s flower garden and scatter the petals with Cheryl. It is so beautiful. I Hope it gets better Deb and George and Patti I’ve been thinking about you all. Hugs. Gary

Deb, thank you for sharing your holiday
stories with Bob. I think he was right
about Thanksgiving not being as much of
a moneymaker. For example, there were
very few Hallmark cards for Thanksgiving! I loved sitting at a long
table next to my uncle, who had a
commanding voice. Opposite me was my
cousin. My uncle liked me better, bc when
he carved the turkey, he always made
sure to give me a drumstick! I recall
being "stuffed", which is not considered
healthy today. I also went to my uncle's
house for the Passover seder, which I
loved, bc I sang with my uncles, aunts,
& cousins. I was able to drink wine as
part of the Seder. Being young, I recall
going into my uncle's living room to
watch his color TV. We still had a black &
white set at home. The color TVs weren't
as sophisticated as they are today, and I
remember a green hue that had to be
adjusted. I also remember taking a nap
on the couch after the food & wine! Lou

I haven't watch TV much since Jack died. He was always a football freak. Yes, lot's cooler and rain, yay. My arm is coming along, but still not healed. I keep trying to do the PT exercises, but I'm not so good at keeping up. How is your vision now? Is it one eye? Thank you for posting to me. Three mile I envy you. My road is so busy I can't go out to walk, have to get into the car to the nearest park to walk. Oh well, my 1 acre keeps me moving. Good night Patti, sleep well, Karen

Can someone please tell me what the abbreviations for TU and TBC mean? LMSO is the abbreviation for laugh my sad off for anyone who doesn’t know yet. Karen it sounds like you never had a dull moment with Jack. Have you ever used a Tens machine for your arm? I’m using one on my shoulder right now. It basically has two sticky patches wires and a control box where you send electrical waves through the part of your body you want to stimulate. It’s like a deep massage. Patti that’s neat to hear you walk 3 miles. I’m going into the woods today to do some deer hunting preparation. Deb I hope you had a great nights rest and feel better today. Being outside is so stimulating. Since we are using the Terminology grief warrior and Mr. grieve would it be OK to call someone the grief whisperer after they’ve encouraged somebody? Hope we hear from George today and that Marcey joins us too. Gary

Good Fri am, Gary. Deb, Karen, & I
( not sure about Patti & George) receive
daily quotations on grief, via email, from
Center for Loss. I highly recommend it.
It's so comforting and true. The one today
is perfect for me about connecting with
both people and nature, and embracing
the sun, as Tom Zuba would say. I knew
I was coming along in my journey, when
I could sit in the sun, clear my head, and
enjoy the moment. Hope you have a good
one. You have a kind heart, and I enjoy
your thoughts on the afterlife & Native
    American wisdom. Lou

The TU is Deb's abbreviation for Total Understatement. TBC is To Be Continued. No never used Tens machine sounds relaxing, I will look into it. Thank you.

    Lou,

Getting here really late today. I forgot that this morning I had an appointment to go over health insurance plans for next year. Had to prepare for it beforehand.

Like you, I enjoy lots of the music from the late 60's. Loved the Big Chill too!!

I haven't read anything here since yesterday, and want to get a walk in, so stopping here (for now.)

Hope you got lots of rest last night...

Hope today you have many more reasons to laugh than to cry...

As always, sending you hugs, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

Patti, so happy to hear that you are out
walking, even though your vision could be
a lot better. Was interested to hear that
your excited about the Dodgers. I hang
out at our local CHEERS like bar, the
Shack, even though I don't drink alcohol
anymore. The Shack has 2 large TV screens
on mute. Excitement is building for the
Boston Red Sox. As I told Deb, I went to
see them at Fenway Park when I was
younger, but lost interest until now. My
friends at the bar have to tell me about
the players. Wouldn't it be funny if L.A.
    went against Boston?!! Lou

    Lou,

If I remember, you mentioned that you were close to your grandmother, but didn't have the greatest relationships with either of your parents. Knowing this, makes me smile that you have good memories from holidays spent with your extended family. I don't think we got our first color TV until the mid seventies. Those were the days when I was the official channel changer. I was always asked to get off the couch, change the channel.

Backing up a bit, I owe you an apology. When I sent you that last message about holiday stories, I forgot that we weren't going to "talk" about dogs for awhile. I'm sorry that I forgot about this until today. This foggy widow brain sucks big time!!!, TU!!!

As always, sending you hugs, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

Deb, the Grief Whisperer is great, and
kind of funny. I remember a movie (1998)
called "The Horse Whisperer" with Robert
Redford. I feel like I'm a dog whisperer
with Guppa, who seems to understand,
with his big brown eyes, what I'm asking
    him !! Lou

Lou, Jack didn't like dogs, but for some reason they always went to him, wanted his attention constantly. I told Jack it must be his scent from being a landscaper. So, there is something about you Guppa loves. Ha!
