Thanks, Stacey! About to go to bed. ( almost
11pm, my time), & chuckled at your loud
women reference. Taking a break from
that place tomorrow am, & having coffee
& breakfast at home, where I can control
the atmosphere. I'd rather save my energy
for the Shack bar on Friday night, where
    I almost always have a good time.Hope
    you're sleeping better now. Lou

Ha, old German term. My Father was German and French. I guess with ropes one better not move. On that note, "sleep tight".
Mr. Grief loves his Amusement park, it's time to hit him over the head, he just doesn't want to stay down.

Zepp awesome! got those on vinyl when I first got into rock when I was around 13! Good stuff. When I had cable always loved the weather channel. It was so soothing as compared to Valerie's angry confrontational talk shows.
My fav LZ song is "No Quarter" The live version.
The home cooked meal revived me a lot, along with all the great help from TGWs!

Here I am up at 4:30 again and the first thing I do is go on GIC! When I was a teacher the first few years they had a great program called "Adopt-A-Homeroom". I was adopted by Hawthorne Park the neighborhood race track. We could walk there. How cool. We got tours of the facility and the kids got to feed big ole carrots to the horses. It was so cool. I always had several students whose parents worked at the track and during the year they'd transfer to Arlington Park when the racing season shifted. Now Arlington Park is no more and that's where they want to put the Bears new stadium. What a waste! Good morning Lou!

Morning, George! My usual 6am wake up
time here. Sorry you woke up at 4:30. When I did that recently, I either had to
take an afternoon nap, or go to bed earlier the next night. I just bored myself,
so I'll comment on your great racetrack
story. How great that you took your pupils
to the track!I bet they loved you, George. I
agree about the waste. I mourn the loss of
funtraditions like racetracks. Also, when I
was a boy, the local movie theater was
magical, with ornate fixtures, a velvet
curtain which would part for the screen,
    coming attractions, cartoons, newsreels,
before the movie started. I remember a
machine, where I'd push a button & get
grape juice & a cup. I could walk to the
theater, to the library, etc. When Linda &
I returned to my hometown, the theater
& library were gone. One needed a car to
go to sterile shoebox theaters. Thomas
Wolfe was right, about "You Can't Go Home
Again". I never went back. I'm fortunate
that the town in which I live now, is very
much like the town of my boyhood. I
walked to an old fashioned theater here,
and saw an old movie, I've come full
circle. Hope you find some nice spots in
    your new home. Lou

I remember old fashioned theatres like that. they were so much better. I remember taking the kids to Hawthorne Race Course and they'd meet with the jockeys and they'd give them all giant Snickers bars. I don't mean to be such a crank but things sure were better back then!

You're not a crank, George! I'm older than
you, so I recall growing up in the 1950s.
    The newsreels featured glamorous
actresses, like Grace Kelly, not some of the
trashy looking (& acting) actresses of today.
Linda & I liked watching the Academy
Awards, and celebrities having fun on The
Johnny Carson Show. You couldn't pay me
to see the Oscars, or the late night
political "comedy" talk shows today. Lou

Again we are so in synch! I feel like I was born 10 years too late at times! I hate the trash popKult of today! Just went for a walk around the Apt complex!

Deb thanks for your kind words about my health situation. If my role model George TUGW (the ultimate grief warrior) can keep on keeping on I can too. I’m preparing myself for eight weeks of radiation this summer. Right now I’m OK with it. We have to live in the now, the box of space we’re in ,and the sand going through the hourglass at this moment. George I enjoyed the story of taking your class to the race track and watching them feed the horses big carrots. Sounds like therapy. I am going to scrub my trip to Michigan because they already have 4 inches of snow. And I can’t throw a tarp over 4 inches of snow. Hunting season lasts till January 1 up there so I have plenty of time. While I was doing my stretches this morning I looked out the window at the burning bushes. They have little red berries on them this year. Two Juncos and a female cardinal were feeding there. They are less than 10 feet from the window. I’m adopting them as family along with all other wildlife in my yard. The connection with birds and horses and all wildlife is magical. Seize the day GWs. Gary

As I've told Deb, one of my best friends
is Steven, 54, who lives with his wife, out
of state. He's a psychotherapist, with an
"old soul". With reruns, he was able to
see TV shows I saw when they first came
out: The Andy Griffith Show. Westerns,
Leave it to Beaver, Twilight Zone, Alfred
Hitchcock Presents, etc. He despairs about
the future of our country, and, even with
my mourning, I have to cheer him up! L

Gary, great to hear from you this am. I've
been "talking" with brother George, since
I woke up at my usual 6am. Our poor
younger brother has been awake since
4:30. I'm sorry you have to go through
radiation, Gary. I am glad you're not taking
the arduous journey to Michigan. Maybe
God is telling you to stop and "smell the
roses". Your descriptions of nature and
wildlife around you, paint a picture of
serenity. I find that when some people
suck ( like loudmouths in my coffee shop),
I seek refuge in nature ( in my case, by the
    ocean). Lou

Awe man I'm sorry to hear about the health crap! You will be strong! I can't believe there's that much snow. I dread the snow at least I don't have a huge driveway to shovel. Seize the day. live for the now the future does not exist just like the past doesn't. Went for a walk two days in a row. TB used the workout room aty bthe complex. Those are good things. and he made real Breakfast with eggs too. Listening to some Bob Marley. Take care my Bro!

So glad you've been taking walks &
eating better, George! I like Reggae. as well as blues. I was listening to House of
the Rising Sun, and Folsom Prison Blues,
by Johnny Cash, and got sad. It's a gray
day. As soon as rain stops this am, I'm
going to take a walk to the cafe for lunch,
to break it up. I hope lunch will be better
there than breakfasts have been, with
overly caffeinated LOUD talkers! Wish me
luck! Bringing phone to check on TGW. L

    George,

Bob loved and I still love!!! Bob Marley... Backing up a bit, my morning has been a difficult one, but reading that you went for a walk two days in a row, has me smiling big time... I love!!! that not only have you been walking, but also you've been eating home cooked meals. You are doing so well!!!, TU!! If you can get through this, so can I, so can all of TGW!!! Gary got it over the top right when he said you are TUGW!!!, TU!!!

I need toothpicks to keep my eyes propped open this morning, my body is screaming for more more caffeine, so going to hit that coffee pot another time...

I hope that today turns out to be the beginning of many more good days ahead.... You have a won a round with Mr. Grief, WTG!!!

As always, sending you hugs, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

    Gary,

I'm so sorry... I LOVE!!! your way of thinking... I agree with everything you said. The past is behind us, we don't know what the future has in store for us, so it's over the top important, to live fully in the present. Being outside, in nature is "magical." Spending time in nature makes me realize that there are so many things in this world to be grateful for... I'm glad you live in such a beautiful, peaceful place.

Mother Nature is so unpredictable. Sorry you had to cancel your plans, but I'm glad there is still plenty of time left in this hunting season.

My chrome book has hit super slo mo mode again, plus I'm in super slo mo mode today too - Not a good combination!!!, TU!!!, so stopping here.

Sending lots of hugs and love your way, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

Deb, as I've mentioned here, my role
model is 97 year old Ginny. She doesn't
dwell in the past. If you ask her, she will
tell you she had 2 husbands, now dead.
She made a will for her son, but doesn't
worry about the future. Ginny loves
where she lives, and can tell you the
history of every family in town. She
has a sunny disposition, a kind soul, and
an interest in other people, like me. If
her son weren't my age, I'd ask her for a
date! Just kidding, but she does look like
    she's in her 70s! Lou
