I lost my wife, T (they/them), in a car accident on May 22, 2025 one day before my 35th birthday. We weren't technically married because I already have a spouse, Z, but we went to Cambridge, MA in October '24 to get our domestic partnership. We were together for less than 3 years, and they were the love of my life. I have been with Z for 8 years and I love him dearly, but I am also his caregiver (he has chronic illness, part of why we decided it was best that we were married). T was just so so special. Z knew it too, the moment he met them the first time. They were my rock and now I am adrift.

Are there any other poly grievers here? I find it hard to feel seen and heard by other widows because I still have a spouse. The immediate aftermath was especially hard because I have no rights to their estate or police information about the accident.
