I'm trying not to be scared. Karen, but this
is my worst day yet, with both sore
throat AND cough, which hurt. Male
friend , also a widower, is driving to the
supermarket, with a list. He will leave
groceries on front hallway, & keep a
receipt so that I can pay him, when I'm
well. I just want to sleep & hydrate. I don't
    want to goto hospital. Lou

    Hi Lou,
How are you doing today? I’m hoping you’re feeling some better. I am listening to my daughter. She has co workers from all over the country and she’s hearing that people are sick everywhere. Not saying covid, but sick. Sounds more like the flu. I’m staying on vitamins to help my immune system and doing my best to stay out of public places for now. She offered to do any shopping of things I might need. Sweet! She has become very protective of me since she lost her Dad. I’m lucky to have her.
    Keep doctoring Lou! Robin

Lou, I’m just now seeing this. So glad you have a friend picking up things for you. I’m worried about you. You got this! You know what you need to do. You’ve got a lot of people here pulling for you. Lots of prayers heading your way. Don’t panic, try to stay calm and get rest. Robin.

I think Gary is on to something. Dark days, and stuck inside are not helping things. Plus missing our loved ones so much during the holidays. And here in NY, and I think many places are having so much rainy dreary weather, adds to our emotions. Ive been through this before, if I can come out of this funk from all the above mentioned things, I know you all can. Try to keep moving, get your blood flowing, it does help. I’m finding I need to push myself to keep moving. Gary’s exercise bike is perfect. I have a foot pedal exerciser I need to get using. Actually, Ron ordered it for me on the morning of the day he passed. So I find it difficult to use, emotionally. But a perfect gift from him.
Sending love and as much positivity as I can muster up. We’ll pull each other through this holiday/winter fog. Hugs to each of you! Robin

Thank god for your friend. You probably know this but tea with honey if you have it is good for your throat. And I’ve been told by doctors it’s ok to take 3 Tylenol for a short while. I mix 2 Tylenol with 1 Advil, it helps quite a lot. You got this Lou. Lots of hydration, chicken soup. Robin

Lou can you make a doctor appointment before the weekend? Some of these colds need an antibiotic. All of your brothers and sisters are pulling for you. Sending you a virtual hug along with positive thoughts. Gary

Sending you hugs Lou! I know since Ron has passed when I don’t feel well I feel worse because he’s not here by my side. But then I realize I can’t see him but he’s with me. Linda is with you too. Robin

feeling much better real soon, so glad your good friend

Good news about the chicken and honey Lou. I was thinking about your recovery in progress is going to be similar to Vito Corleone recovering from being gunned down in the market by a rival mafia family. The cold has no idea who it is messing around with. Sending you a virtual hug older brother. Gary

You're funny about the Vito reference,
Gary. My voice did sound like his! I identified with his ex Army son, Michael,
who avenged the shooting in that
    unforgettable restaurant scene. Then, he
had to flee to beautiful Sicily, where he
set his eyes on an equally beautiful woman. As long as I'm not the weak
    Fredo....... Lou

Gary, I know grief at this level or depth is new to me. But I really can't see sunny days ahead for me. I'm trying for my daughter's sake, I really am. But as someone called it 'Mr. Grief' is hanging around more and more. I see you are really trying with plans every day. Jack has failed me and now I'm trying vodka, it seems more of a habit than a help. Planning on joining grief sessions next year, I pray every day and it helps. I read that Mother Theresa had said the world's biggest problem wasn't hunger or poverty, it was loneliness. Until now, I would have never believed that. People say I need to get out more and do things. I can't really see that happening much, and like you I feel myself shrinking or somehow getting smaller. Best of luck to us all next year. Rick

Hey, Lpu you still have your sense of humor. I'm reading all these posts and I have to agree with Gary, antibiotic may be what you need. Please, if this continues go to the doctor or ER. We're all concerned for you and praying for recovery. It's hard being alone and sick without our love one who was always there to help us. You have all of us thinking positive thoughts for your recovery. And what a nice person to shop for you, you are blessed and loved. K

Karen, I didn't open the door for Mr. Grief, bc I didn't want his cold to come into my warm apartment. I quickly brought the groceries, incl. a 12 Pack of Poland Springs water, from Maine, into my place, after friend left. I am afraid to go into the hospital at this time. Based on past experiences, I'm given a sedative to relax and even to sleep. I
need to be aware of what is being jabbed
into my arm, these days. If my cough
doesn't improve, by Mon, I will take a
cab to my nurse practioner. Bea, Robin. &
Gary were all empathetic. Linda taught me about the little plastic figure of a honey
bear, I poured that into my tea just now.
It won't take long to back to sleep. Hope you sleep well, Karen. Lou

Hope everyone is doing as well as can be. I had strange sleeping schedule today. Woke up a bit ago. Was super sad today, missing Lizzy. Guess it was one if those days. Reading all your responses and convos has helped. Lou, I hope for a speedy recovery. For some reason I feel like watching the Godfather again.

Gary & I get a kick out of quoting the father & 3 brothers of the first Godfather movie.
It all started when Gary flattered & honored me by calling me the Godfather of
our group. I told him, that I woke up
crying and felt like the weak brother,
Fredo. Technically, since I'm the oldest
brother on GIC, 8 should be compared to
the oldest, angriest brother, Sonny, but
that didn't end well! Thanks, Chad, woke
up coughing. which hurts ,and is the
worst symptom. If I don't improve, I may
have to see my nurse practioner on Mon.
    Meanwhile, not going outside ,drinking
plenty of water. & hot, BIGELOW tea,
with honey, per Robin's suggestion. Lou
