I'm praying some kind person will turn in your wallet or call you. Karen

    Karen, God answered my prayers.
Linda grew up Catholic, and we would
pray to St. Anthony whenever we
    lost, or even misplaced
things in our apartment. A police
dispatcher called me to say my
wallet had been turned in. Before that call,
I called my bank to cancel my debit
card, which was in the wallet, along with
    my Medicare card, health insurance
card, list of my meds & allergies, and a
state ID ( instead of a driver's license,
bc I gave up driving , years ago). When I
walked into my small town police station,
I recognized the kind young woman
    dispatcher. Everything was intact, except
some cash. The dispatcher was upset ,
but I brushed it off. Apparently, a dog
walker walked through a park I frequent.
The dog sniffed the wallet , & barked , to
alert the owner. When he turned the
wallet in, he didn't say his name. It's
possible that another person saw the
wallet , took the money,& tossed the
wallet. The other possibility is that the
dog walker felt he did a good deed,.&
took the money as a "reward". Again.
I'm so grateful to God ( and Linda who's
smiling on me, this beautiful, sunny,70
degree day.) I reached out to Helena about
this story BEFORE the police called, and
Patti wrote a warm message to me, as
did Gary. I love TGW, like you. Lou

Lou I hope you didn't have too much money in your wallet. Have you seen those waist fanny packs for men? When my brother-in-law lost his wallet I suggested it, but I think he just laughed it off. I see men wearing them and I really think they are a great idea. K

One of my favorite sites I found a few years back is https://whatsyourgrief.com/
It has amazing real life stuff for grievers, the people who support them & grief professionals …. a soft place to land if you haven’t seen it before. ~B

I'm glad you found your wallet. I bet it was a big relief to you. I hope they didn't get much cash but I'm just glad you're ok. We need cash but its not as important as your well being. Glad all is well!

Karen, I love my brother Gary, with his
many cultural references to TV &
    movies: The Godfather, of course,
Clint Eastwood , both Westerns &
Dirty Harry ( San Francisco rogue
cop),and now , Columbo. I'm old enough to
remember the TV series , The Streets of
San Francisco, with Karl Malden, as the
older detective, and a young Michael
Douglas , as his young partner. Lou

Karen, thanks anyway, but I agree with
your brother-in -law. I have a pair of
cargo shorts , with secure pockets, &
may have to buy some more . I will be
very careful , with my Smart Phone,
    too. Lou

Gary, you did it again. As I told Karen,
I love you, brother, for your cultural
references. They always give me a
    chuckle. Thank you. Lou

Lou, it's 6am here, just got up and checking in here. I'm so glad your wallet has been found. My C used to say that we ladies are so lucky that we have our handbags everywhere we go to safely put in all our personal belongings. I understand it's difficult nowadays to find space in your pockets for so much stuff you need to carry around: wallet, mobile phone, car/house keys, tissues, cigarettes (if you smoke), lighter, etc. and if that wasn't enough, we have been forced to add facemasks, hand cleansers. I so miss not putting things in my handbag that my C used to ask me to do, for example, even just a simple pen or a packet of tissues, or an extra lighter just in case his personal one stopped functioning. I will never remove that lighter out of my bag, I don't smoke but I've kept the last cigarettes he had bought, too. There's no way I would ever throw out any of his personal belongings.

I also was a great fan of American TV detective series in 70s/80s, I watched them all, especially "The streets of S. Francisco" and "Starsky and Hutch". Yesterday, I happened to be watching a re-run of "Chips", it felt like a comfort to me watching this, reminiscing my childhood/teenage days, when life seemed so simple and flawless, no problems to worry about. Nowadays I'm watching the reruns of "Little house on the prairie", oh I still love it just as I did then. It has now become my daily comfort therapeutical TV programme.
Gary, I never appreciated "The godfather" at the time, perhaps I was too young, but recently I saw it again, the whole saga, and I thought "wow", a masterpiece.
Thank you Countess Joy, for suggesting that site, I've just been looking it up and am definitely going to stop and have a read.
Thank you all again for being here and wishing you all a peaceful day.

Rose, woke up in the night, and, true to
my habit lately, was curious to see which
GW were on GIC. I love your detailed
descriptions & longer posts now. It seems
so long ago , when I asked your husband's
name. I love how TGW slowly reveal stories of their soulmates. I also love the
distractions from grief, when we talk
about things BEFORE we met our spouses.
So glad you liked The Godfather. My
favorite is the 1st one, with Marlon
Brando and James Caan, as the hot
tempered Sonny. I found the background
music so haunting, that I bought the
soundtrack. Hard to believe, but I saw that
movie in a theater in Boston. I went alone,
& it was a packed audience, but amazingly
quiet. I loved the scenes of Sicily, when
Michael Corleone ( played by Al Pacino) is
in hiding, with his bodyguards, & falls in
love , and marries a beautiful, soft spoken
woman in the village. As for Little House on the Prairie, I was not a regular viewer,
but after Linda died, I saw a powerful
episode, on my TV in my winter motel.
It was about a widower, played by Arthur
Hill. He tries to take his own life, bc of his
guilt that he couldn't "save " his wife from
dying. As Tom Zuba says, it was "time for
    her to come home". Lou

When You Are Old - by J. B. Yeats, Irish Poet

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
    Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false of true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soil in you,
    And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowds of stars.

Lou, I’m so sorry about your wallet. But happy to see you have it back minus the cash of course. Losing your wallet is hard and upsetting enough. Then you’re going through it all alone. I know that makes it worse. But all the GW’s are here to help you through whatever comes your way. Linda was with you though. She’s a part of you. She’s in your heart forever. Robin

Robin, that's the first thing I learned from
my grief counselor. I don't drink anymore, but the AA slogans also apply:
1st, One day at a time. 2nd, Easy does it.
3rd, Live and let live. I would add my
    personal observation that some days
    are better than others. Lou
