Oh, that's powerful, Karen. Thank you.
" You will live on inside of me forever...."
is so true for all of us GW. Woke up at 2am,
my time, checked in with GIC, and there
you were. I'll keep this brief , bc I want to
roll over & go back to sleep. I'm glad to
see that Patti & Rose put a "LIKE" on your
post, bc Patti hasn't been able to reply, but
said she's been "listening" to us. Rose is,
too, in a different time zone, but she
    will occasionally post an emotional,
personal account of her grieving for her
husband, It is so good to see you back on
    here again, Karen. Lou

Helena, enjoyed talking with you, Nicole,
Rose, and Patti in the night. Hope you
went back to sleep. This quote reminded
me of my drinking days. 1st, the fun.
    2nd, the hangovers. So, it is,on a
    grander scale, with grief. Lou

I'm back, but struggling with my loss of Rambo. He's everywhere in my house. It takes me back to the first grief I had with Jack all over again. What was that song litic, "I'm so lonely I could cry". Every morning I wake and talk to our living God in wonderment of what my day will be. What's that movie, "Good Bad and Ugly".?
But on the flip side this is the first time I've been alone and in a way it feels freeing. Mr. Grief is very happy living with me, he thinks he's my companion now. Time to kick him out the door.
GW"s let's not let Mr. Grief think he's our companion. Karen

Karen, I hope you'll be able to listen to
music again. I liked your reference to
the Hank Williams song, also sung by
Elvis & others. I also liked your reference
to the classic Clint Eastwood Western
movie. Gary & I quote him , especially his
Dirty Harry cop movies ,set in San
Francisco. You will find that being alone
is normal ,and yes, freeing. Even if I
meet that "mystery woman", I'd still
want my own apartment, for the quiet.
and freedom to come & go. I like to
visit people with dogs, but don't want to
feed, care, take one for walks on cold
    nights, to do "their business".......Lou

She reminds me of my granddaughter's cat, same coloring, Torti. I'm crying again because I feel what you are feeling. How old is she?

Sami has done well, you are very fortunate to have her so long, but it doesn't make it any easier when they are gone. Thanks for sending the picture. K

Hi Karen. I liked the Good the Bad and the Ugly too. I liked the theme song to the movie by Hugo Montenagro. I liked the drumming at the end of the movie too. Sorry about your grieving the loss of Rambo. My last fur baby was a black lab named Brusier. Brusier saw my last drunk in 1992 and was the only family member who stayed with me when everyone else went south. It was a cake walk compared to losing Cheryl but it was still painful. Several times I remember coming home from work grief stricken and throwing myself on the floor crying. my dear friend Brusier would push his muzzle against my face to comfort me. Truly my best friend. Brusier started having kidney failure but lived another year. I needed Bruiser then and he was a gift. This brings back a lot of good memories of how much we loved each other. I never got another dog. I’m still not ready but haven’t ruled it out. Sending you a big hug Karen. Keep on trucking young lady. Gary

Thank you Gary, pets, especially dogs, are our best friends. They give -- we take. Brusier was there for you when you most needed him. Rambo was a cat, but not any ordinary cat. He was more like a dog than a cat, he would play bocce ball, loved people and was such a lover. Because of his personality of being half cat half dog everyone just fell in love with him. I think my neighbors are mourning along with me. One special cat not to be replaced. And one special Brusier who loved you completely and nursed your pain. To our fur babies, K

Carla, so glad to see your quick response
to Helena. I saw that you put a LIKE
to my post to Sherry ( "Quiet Lady"),
and I appreciated that. I love to write,
and I miss your poems! I know that your
heart aches for Ned, and mine for Linda,
but they wanted us to enjoy life. How's
Maine? The coast of Massachusetts , and
    live music, sustains me. Lou

Good to see you on here tonight, Gary.
Did you ever see the Seinfeld episode
in which the self pitying, short, pudgy,
balding man, George Costanza, is sick
of his empty life, and decides to " do the
opposite"? Look it up on YouTube. It's
    a classic. I'm doing a Costanza tonight.
I was tired, but said to myself, I'm not
95, damn it, and I'm sitting at a small
bar , having dinner & a bottle of
sparkling water, listening to a local
trio at my nearby Whale's Jaw Cafe,
which is a lot more interesting than the
Shack, bc of the live music. I'm relaxed,
unlike my drinking days, before Linda,
when I felt obligated to try to "pick up
women". When I did, it did not go well
in the long run. I'm older, and hopefully
wiser now. Let's be cool like Clint----
    without the gun. Lou

Thanks for the LMSO older brother Lou. Sounds like you’re on a roll tonight. I know this is strange but I never saw one episode of Seinfeld. I forgot thank for you the other LMSO(laugh my sad off) in regards to irritating you with the replacement of TUTTAM with SCFED (supercalifragilisticexpialidocious). Stay in the light (in regards to well lighted pathways) tonight older brother Lou. Gary

Karen I think I figured it out about Rambo’s personality when you said he was half dog also. I would have loved Rambo too because I liked cats that picked fights with people. I only had 2 dogs in my adult life. The other dogs name was Gang. I named him after the wrestler One Man Gang. At this stage of my life I was primordial. Like Lou I’m glad those days are over. I named Brusier after Dick the Brusier. Rambo was named after a warrior. My dogs were wrestlers. That proves we are hard wired to be warriors also. We are the grief warriors. We get down but don’t ever count us out. Gary

Gary, woke up at midnight, due to
"plumbing issue", as our humorous pal,
Deb, would say, and YOU gave me a
LMSO this time. Since you missed Seinfeld,
I'll summarize that episode. George is
sitting with his 3 friends, as he does in
almost every episode, in a diner. When the
waitress comes over, he's about to
order the same sandwich he always gets.
Suddenly , he yells, NO, change that to
a chicken salad on rye ( or something like
that). His friends tell George that a
beautiful blonde woman is smiling &
staring at him. Jerry Seinfeld ( standup
comedian, in real life & on the TV show)
urges George to " do the opposite", and
walk over to her. He protests , at first,
asking why a woman like her would be
interested in a shlub like him. But then,
he walks over, and says, " hi, I'm George.
I don't have a job, and I live with my
parents". She smiles even more, and says,
" hi, George. I noticed you got the same
sandwich as me !!". Incredibly, they start
dating. The Seinfeld show was called a
"show about nothing", but actually had a
NYC edginess, funny lines which became
famous, good character actors, & great
guest stars. I thought of that episode, when
I walked into the cafe, like it was a
Western saloon, with a swagger. I looked
down & felt a breeze. My fly was open.
Linda NEVER would have let me out of
    the house like that. Lou
