Thanks, Rita. Glad you liked my comment--
from the heart. GIC has been quiet so
far, so I was happy to see you on here. I've
bern walking a lot , in the sunshine, so
I've been going to sleep by 10pm, my
time, so I can take advantage of the
long daylight hours. I like to check in
with you & other GW on the West
Coast, when I wake up. Lou

Actually, I'm on the east coast with you Lou.....Northern VA....used to live down very near Virginia Beach. But I like the northern part much better and the Shenandoah Valley is so beautiful!!! Have taken your advice about drinking tea, chamomile and sleepy time are my favorites for relaxing and sleep. Actually help a lot. which I would never have believed....Hugs, continue to walk in the sunshine Lou, and grab a smile or laughter when and wherever you can, Rita

Sorry about that, Rita. As our friend,Deb,
would say, my "foggy widower's brain"
forgot that I asked you that when I
first "met" you. I even wrote it down.
along with the name of your husband.
So, you & I are in the same time zone!
Glad you like the relaxing herbal teas, too.
I just had a late lunch & am about to
walk down to the Neck, by the ocean,
to see my friends, some of whom own
shops there. I hope tourists will come,
and give them some business. There's
a school vacation here, next week,
so my town should be more lively. Lou

Hi Rita. My brother Mark, his daughter Laura and son Ben are in Virginia right now along with Laura’s man friend Jim. They are staying at Tunnel State Park. I’m not sure if that’s the right name? Our ancestors originated from Virginia then migrated into southern Ohio. We come from the Craft family but that is not our name. I received a few photos but they are too busy to keep me posted. Mark lives in Florida. Laura lives 20 miles north of me. Ben lives in Connecticut. This is a big deal for them going to old cemeteries trying to find special people. Mark is coming north after Easter and camp in my area. Mark rents his home in Ormand Beach and lives in the north to avoid the hot weather. Hope you’re feeling better. Gary

Hi Gary, it is a shame that your family is really busy on this trip...sharing pictures would be so wonderful! Virginia is a beautiful state. Natural Tunnel State Park is way southwest of where I am. The pictures I have seen on-line of this park are fabulous, hope they enjoy their visit. Perhaps they'll share more with you after the trip.
Hope you had a better day today, Gary. Thank you for sharing.....hugs, wishes for many more days of sunshine and smiles, Rita

    Good morning GWs
Bittersweet for all but, for some this is the first holiday season without your partners.
Ease expectations of what should be, honor what has been, be gentle with yourselves and those around you.

Lou, I hope you have better weather up North, here in the South rain all night and it's gloomy, doesn't help with my new supposed positive thoughts. Helena

    Bernadine,

Just as I'm totally and madly in love with my friend's fur baby, Gus, I'm totally and madly in love with Maggie too!!!, TUTTAM!!! Seeing her Easter photos is making me smile BIG TIME!!!, TUTTAM!!! My very favorite fur baby had her toy box, shaped like a giant bone, filled with stuffed toys, her very favorite kind... She had an entire collection of veggies..., Mr. Carrot, Mr. Eggplant..., etc., etc., etc. I don't remember why they were always male, lol... We could ask her to bring us any one of her stuffed veggie "friends." or any one of the other numerous stuffed "friends,' in her bone box, and she would excitedly run over to her toy box, taking each toy out, tossing it on the floor, until she came up with the right one. Then she would run over with it in her mouth, and drop it at the feet at whoever requested it.

"A long game of throw and catch had to follow... When she got tired of playing, she left her "friends" wherever they happened to land on the floor, but at the end of the day, we told her to put her toys back in the box. She cleaned up after herself, lol... I'm still amazed by this. However... this was the extent of her cleaning up after herself. Way too many memories of all those way past HUGE!!! messes she made..., not always funny at the time, but funny once those messes were cleaned up. They became part of our family's "remember when's???." always making us burst out laughing... I miss my very favorite fur baby so very much!!!, TUTTAM!!!, and it's been almost seven years since she crossed over that Rainbow Bridge... But!!! now I have Gus to love in person, and Maggie to love virtually...

In the fall, I think it's going to be time for me go to the shelters and find another fur baby... I'm positive this (maybe) soon to be fur baby will be showered with TLC 24/7, spoiled to the absolute max!!!, lol,.., just the way every fur baby should be. I used to talk to my very favorite fur baby constantly, and you already know how much I can "talk," lol... I taught her lots of words, and my kids did too. It's amazing how intelligent dogs are... Better stop here, before I ramble on and on and on, etc.etc., etc. about my love for dogs, lol... Bob loved dogs just as much as I did. Wait... Stopping here, or this message could get so long, I won't be able to send it.

I'm so very over the top happy Maggie Joy is part of your family... I just want to reach into those pictures and hug and cuddle her... Love her!!!

It's been pouring on and off, super humid, just one of those over the top nasty gray days... Thanks for bringing some sunshine into my day...

As always, sending you and Maggie Joy lots of hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

    Lou,

I find having an optimistic outlook, a glass half full kind of outlook, instead of a glass half empty kind of outlook, to quote you, is so important, as all of us continue our daily battles with Mr. Grief. I think the way we choose to view the world, has such a BIG!!! impact on our emotional health. I know we can't control our feelings, but I've found that by "talking" to myself using positive expressions when I'm over the top sad, helps me remember, as you might say, it's only one day..., this and finding at least one thing to be grateful for every day, before getting out of bed, helps me stay positive.

Hope today is a much better day for all of us, but when Mr. Grief invades our lives, as he always does, hope we're able to give him that swift kick in the ass he deserves!!!, TUTTAM!!!, and send him flying out the front door... Even if he's only gone for a little while, a little while is better than not at all!!!, TUTTAM!!!

Hope however you chose to spend today, it's a good one...

As always sending you hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

    Helena,

You and I are in the same state... The weather SUCKS!!! where I live too... I hope Mother Nature decides to be less of a pita to us tomorrow... For now, I hope you're able to give Mr. Grief the hardest kick you can, when he comes knocking at your front door, sending him flying... into the street... knocked unconscious for at least part of the day...

    Looking forward to Art Wednesday...

As always, sending you lots of hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

    Rita,

Like you and Lou, I drink chamomile and sleepy time tea every evening... It helps me relax, that and watching the flickering flame of a (new) candle on the coffee table in front of my couch. I'm also finding that even with the small decorating touches I've recently added, I'm feeling so much more comfortable being in this house. I hope to make it truly feel like a home as I continue my decorating... Another one of those TBCs...

I agree!!!, TUTTAM!!! Smiles are so over the top important!!! Each and every smile... something I will NEVER!!! take for granted again. Smiles let us know there is hope, hope for a better life, for all of us...

As always sending you hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

    P.S.

    Rita,

My new candle is a gift from my friend who became a widow before I did. She left it outside my house, on the first anniversary of Bob's death, along with a beatiful handwritten card. That card made me cry, but only in the very best of ways... The label on the candle says "Hug In A Jar," and it's smells so pretty... it's so calming. I think of my friend, of all the friends in my life, and I feel so grateful for each and every one of them.

Stopping here, need more caffeine!!! I'm such a creature of habit, lol...
