My boyfriend was an avid duck hunter who ate right (most of the time) and seemed in excellent shape. I moved here 3 years ago after we got tired of driving back and forth 3 hours one way on the weekends. We had a close relationship and we spent a lot of good times together and a lot of just simple everyday moments and its still such a shock he is gone. A week after we had celebrated each of our Nivember birthdays, I walked my 3 dogs down to the place on our road where he was hunting, I found him laying partly in the frigid water with HIS dog nearby. It was quickly evident I got there too late. Two days later, the story was front page news. Despite all that, I can't grasp that he is REALLY gone. But I feel it profoundly every day at some point. I will be ok for a bit. Maybe even a DAY then....Something just sets me off and I grieve all over again. Time isnt healing....it just gives me more time to remember what we will never do together again. And it will get WORSE when Spring comes and our seasonal neighbors come to their summer cottages to grieve a friend that was such a part of their summer lives.....

Thank you for sharing your story with us...I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. No---time doesn't really heal in the way we hope it would. Grief follows no predictable path and it's so hard to know what each day following a loss will bring. I'm hoping you can find some hope and support here. I know there's people who can understand and relate to what you are going through. I'm glad you've found us and I hope we can be a help. Please take care~

Hi, I’m so sorry to read your story. I just lost my GF less than a month ago. I think I went a full 2 weeks without even being hungry. Sleep was something that could only be attained by taking medication or by drinking heavily. My heart hurts so much that I find myself actually holding my chest because of how it’s beating so hard and fast. Breathing is short and shallow so I have to intentionally take long and slow breaths. I’m also shaking so bad it is pointless to go to the shooting range for some therapy shooting. I started going back to church and that has helped some. I don’t really know how everything is going to turn out. This is the first time finding out about online support forums. I hope that you and I can both benefit from them. If you need to talk to anyone I’m here.
