  1. Hi everyone,

Does anyone ever wish that they could go visit their loved one wherever they are now? And just to be able to see them again? Or do you wish that you could reconnect again somehow? Do you wonder what life is like wherever they are? Or what they will look like when you see them again?

I lost a very dear friend of mine about a month ago to cancer and congestive heart failure - things got so bad for her that she was considering MAID, but she passed before she could get further tested for that. I thought of her as an aunt and mentor. I miss her very much.

I just wanted to know if these are normal things to wonder/feel, and if anyone else has thought about these things too.

    Hello,
I can only speak for myself but yes indeed! I believe very strongly that there is life after this one. And yes! i would like to be able to be with my husband again. I wish that I could reconnect with him. I am slowly accepting the fact that he is gone physically from me forever, or at least until we are reunited in the next world. What is MAID? I do pray for him very often and I talk to him and ask for assistance and guidance. Sometimes I feel his presence close at hand.
I am so sorry that you lost your dear friend. I am assured that you will meet again some day in the future after this life.

  4. I am sorry for your loss as well. MAID stands for Medical Assistance In Dying - basically it is treatment that the doctors can give you if you are terminally very ill and in lots of pain.

What does it feel like when you feel his presence? Sometimes I wonder if I actually do feel my friends presence or if I am imagining it.

    Hi OUAT28,
I have never ever heard of MAID. How is it different from hospice? My husband was admitted to a hospice house once we told the doctors that we did not want any more medical intervention as his Parkinson's was so advanced that medical intervention would have only prolonged his suffering. He had pneumonia and his heart was only working at 25% capacity plus he had sepsis. He was given morphine to ease his struggle to breathe.
How do I feel his presence? Interestingly enough I am a member of Threshold Choir. It is a group of people in communities who sing to the dying. We have a rehearsal once a week and sing at hospice house at least once a week plus sometimes in homes for chronically ill people. It's when I am singing with the choir that I feel very very close to my husband because some of the members of this choir came weekly to our home to sing to my husband. He loved it and knew the songs so well that he would hum along. I truly feel as if I am performing a sacred act when I sing with others at someone's bedside. Some of them are in a coma and on two occasions we sang to people who had passed but they were alone and no one knew. We reported to the nurses what we observed and they affirmed that the two individuals had gone on. The families of the dying appreciate our singing as much as the dying person does.

  6. Wow that sounds lovely!

Basically MAID is the treatment that a person gets to help end their life if they are truly suffering and in a lot of pain. Before my friend died she was having trouble breathing and was in a great deal of pain, therefore she wanted to begin the testing required to determine which type of drug is best to use and how much of it is needed, or something like that. However, she passed away before that could all begin. Not sure where you live but in Canada where I live, MAID became legal in 2015 and doctors are able to use it under certain circumstances. Here is a link with more information about it: http://www.wrha.mb.ca/maid/

Yes... I feel there are signs all around us. We just have to be receptive and take notice. My loved one was sending me feathers and now I see flickering lights. I talk to him often and can hear him answer me back. I'm currently reading a book called Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander. I have a strong need to know he is OK and that I will be with him again.

    Hi Debs,
Since my husband passed I see birds everywhere all the time! I didn't have such close encounters with them before. I read the same book by Eben Alexander. He also has talks on u-tube which are interesting. I am a member of the Baha'i Faith and we absolutely believe that there is another life after this one for everyone. It's like going to a different level of existence which is very different from this one but the two worlds are connected and we are encouraged to pray for them and they can help us in this world. I guess you could campare it a bit to electricity. We can't see the current as it passes but we can surely see the evidence of it all around us all the time.

Hi Sara.. that's a good analogy. Since the passing of ma y family members over the years, I've felt a special connection with birds - especially cardinals. Ralph and I would listen for their chirp all the time when he was alive. Now I feel he sends them to me when I need to hear from him. Are there any other books you read that helped?

    Hi
    Hi Debs,
That is amazing to hear that you feel a particular sense of your family when you see cardinals. I have heard this from many people who have had the same experience. I have become so sensitive to LIFE that I can hardly do away with anything! I am seeing a lot of pill bugs in my house and I take them outside and let them go.
I have a gold coin on a chain that my husband told me to take home when he was in the hospital for the last time. I wear it around my neck now and when I hold it i feel very close to him because the coin is near my heart and I know it was near his for years. It's always warm when I hold it.
I have been to at least two graveside services where I have seen a cardinal nearby singing it's beautiful song. Perhaps birds are messengers from our loved ones?

Yes, Sara, I think they are. I always seem to hear that chirp when I need it. Ralph always wore a peace sign necklace which I wear now too and keep him close to my heart. Deb

  12. When you say you hear him answer you, do you actually hear his voice? And is it like more in your head that you hear it? I’m not sure if that makes sense but I’ve heard people describe it like that sometimes.

    Hi,
I feel my husband's presence in little ways. It seems like these days things just fall into place. I feel very protected and loved. Sometimes I lose things like my reading glasses which I had been searching for several days only to find them on my nightstand this morning right in plain site!
I have flowers in pots on the patio and this year they are absolutely blooming like they never have before.
I wear his gold coin necklace around my neck now and when I feel it I can feel him here in a spiritual sense. He gives me strength to keep going.

I know this is going to sound crazy but................ During the last several weeks I have noticed pill bugs all around the house out where I can't miss them. I have been taking them outside and letting them go. I also seem to have a pet fly who comes into the kitchen when I am there and sits on a counter nearby and watches me.
Who knows if those in the next life can find unusual means to let us know they are near by.
More and more I feel as if my husband has become my guardian angel and when I get anxious I ask him to help and then I trust that assistance will come. I feel protected. Because I live alone after being with him 46 years I am comforted knowing that he is near.

I hear my moms voice inside my head. Sometimes she will just say something in response to what I or someone else said. It's not only when i ask her a question.

Yes bestie I hear an inner voice often and if it's good advice usually to help someone I follow it. I think we all have a a guardian who watches out for us and guides us Direction.

I don't think that sounds crazy at all. I'm sure he is with you, guiding you, and sending you signs of that. And it's wonderful that you are open to receiving his love and guidance by just being "aware"!
